Pumpkin patches for toddlers

Small, calm patches with daytime hours work best for little kids.

Not too scary: what to skip after dark

Some farms turn spooky at night. For calm Halloween picks, see our Halloween guide.

Tips for a farm day

A few things that make the day easier. For farm animals after pumpkin season, see farms and petting zoos open all year.

  • Get tickets ahead where you need them. Winding Branch Ranch needs a free timed ticket, and Devine Acres sells tickets for one date.
  • South Texas Maize and Circle N sell tickets at the gate only.
  • Go in the morning. It's cooler, and the lines are shorter.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes. Fields can be muddy for a day or two after rain.
  • Most farms don't allow pets. Circle N allows dogs only on its Dog Day, and Jenschke Orchards and the Universal City patch allow leashed pets.
  • Pack water and sunscreen. Many patches have little shade.
  • If it rained, check the farm's social media before you drive. Some farms close when fields or parking get muddy.
