Privacy policy

This page explains what we collect on momsguidesa.com, why we collect it, and which services help us run the site. You can use most of the site without an account.

When you visit

Our site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles each visit, including your IP address and browser details, to send you pages and protect the site from abuse.

Analytics

On momsguidesa.com we use Microsoft Clarity to learn how people use the site, like which pages they open, where they tap or click and how far they scroll. Clarity sets its own cookies and collects details about your device and visit. Microsoft handles that data under its own privacy terms.

Your account

If you create an account, we store your name, your email address and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. We never store the password itself. We send account emails, like the sign-up link and password resets, through Mailgun, an email service.

You can also sign in with a passkey on devices that support it. We store only the passkey's public key. Your fingerprint, face or device PIN stays on your device.

When you sign in, we keep a session record with your IP address and browser details to keep your account secure. A session lasts up to 30 days. We don't offer sign-in through Google, Facebook or other outside accounts.

What we save when you're signed in

  • Places and events you save.
  • Plans you build, with their stops and notes.
  • Check-ins, with any notes you add. Only you can see your check-ins and notes. Other people can't see who checked in. At most, a place page shows how many check-ins it has. To check in, your browser shares your location once so we can confirm you're nearby. We don't save that location.
  • What you do in the swipe feed: the events and places you view, skip, save, share, hide or add to a plan, and how long a card stays on screen. We use this to show you more of what you like.

Before you sign in, the swipe feed keeps that activity in your browser only. When you sign in, it's copied to your account.

Forms you send us

When you submit an event, suggest a fix or claim a place, we save what you write, your name and email (the event form asks for both, the fix form leaves them up to you), and your role if you tell us. We use your contact details to follow up on what you sent. Only our team sees it. If you're signed in, you can see your own submissions and their status in your dashboard.

To limit spam, we save a one-way code (a hash) made from your IP address and count how many forms each code sends in a day. We don't store the IP address itself.

Our forms and the sign-in and sign-up pages use Cloudflare Turnstile, a quick check that tells people from bots.

Your location

Some features can use your location, like Nearest in the places feed and the locate button on our maps. Your browser asks you first, and nothing changes if you say no. For Nearest, your location goes along with that request so we can sort places by distance. We don't save it. Your browser keeps it until you close the tab.

Maps

Our maps come from Mapbox. When a map loads, your browser gets the map images from Mapbox, so Mapbox sees your IP address and the area you're looking at.

Cookies and browser storage

  • A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in.
  • The mg_view cookie remembers whether you like the swipe feed or the classic view. It lasts one year.
  • Your browser's local storage keeps your view choice (mg.viewMode), your swipe feed activity before you sign in (mg.feed.algoState.v1) and a day plan you build without an account (momsguidesa-day-plan).
  • Session storage, which clears when you close the tab, keeps your location if you shared it (mg.geo) and which guide and Instagram cards the feed already showed you (mg.feed.guidesSeen.v1, mg.feed.instagram.v1).
  • Microsoft Clarity and Cloudflare Turnstile can set their own cookies.

You can clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you do, you may need to sign in again.

Your choices

You can unsave places and events and delete your plans from your account. To remove a check-in, send us a direct message on Instagram at @momsguidesa.

To ask what we have about you, or to ask us to delete your account or your data, send us a direct message on Instagram at @momsguidesa.
