Cascade Caverns

Texas' oldest touring cave with hourly guided tours through 100-million-year-old formations, plus camping and gem mining.

Cascade Caverns is the oldest public touring cave in Texas, located just outside Boerne, a quick 30-minute drive from San Antonio. Guided tours run hourly and take you through over 100-million-year-old formations including stalactites, stalagmites, draperies, and columns. The cave stays a cool 68°F year-round, making it a good escape from Texas heat. Kids love spotting the resident axolotls (endangered cave-dwelling salamanders). The grounds also include camping, a rock shop, gem mining, and picnic areas.
