About this event
JOHN DAVIES’ PINOCCHIO MARCH 20 – APRIL 4, 2027 Based on The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi with scenes from operas by W.A. Mozart, G. Donizetti, J. Offenbach, and G.B. Pergolesi Magik Theatre & OPERA San Antonio present John Davies’ Pinocchio, a one-act opera for young audiences based on Carlo Collodi’s literary classic, featuring music from operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Offenbach, and Pergolesi. One of the most beloved characters in children’s literature takes center stage in this magical re-telling which blends opera and theatrical staging. Pinocchio captures the childlike curiosity in all of us, as he navigates an unknown and complicated world. When persuaded by the mischievous duo, Wolf and Cat, Pinocchio disobeys his father Gepetto and skips school. Of course, his journey is met by the notorious Dr. Dulcamara, a loathsome puppeteer, and his mechanical doll Olympia. Through a series of adventures, Pinocchio learns the harsh reality that every untruth comes with real-world
