Groups that welcome young kids with a parent

  • Animal Care Services Kids 10 and under help with animal support while a parent stays with them. Parents and kids 11 to 17 fill out separate forms. Everyone goes to an orientation and has a background check. School and community groups have their own sign-up form.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio Make-A-Meal groups cook a meal in the House kitchens, cater one or bring snacks. Volunteers bring all the food. Young kids and toddlers count toward the group size limit.
  • Haven for Hope Group projects run Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 2 weeks' notice. Weekends and evenings take a special request. For one-day projects, email [email protected] or call 210-220-2590.
  • SAMMinistries Family roles include the garden, inventory, the library, the points store and special events. Approved volunteers get a weekly sign-up sheet. Check the site for age rules.

  • Witte Museum Junior Volunteer Mentees are 15 and 16, and Junior Volunteers are 17. Spring applications open in December, and fall applications open in August.
  • San Antonio Humane Society No volunteer roles for anyone under 16, even with an adult. The general program is 18 and up, and P.A.W.S. is a youth program for junior and senior high students.
